See Alaska Up Close And Personal on a Kenai Fjords Cruise!

February 27th, 2017 by Corey A. Edwards

See Alaska Up Close And Personal on a Kenai Fjords Cruise! You’ll experience Alaska’s most popular wildlife and glacier cruise on a Kenai Fjords Cruise in Kenai Fjords National Park!

Kenai Fjords National Park is located on the edge of Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula. The park’s rugged landscape includes fjords, mountains, and glaciers. The Harding Icefield is here, its host of nearly 40 glaciers calving bergs into Resurrection Bay.

Wildlife thrives here, both on shore in the meadows and forests and offshore in the icy waters. Black bears, sea otters, puffins, eagles, migrating whales, and many more are routinely spotted within the park’s boundaries.

No wonder the Kenai Fjords Cruise is known as “Alaska’s # 1 Wildlife and Glacier Cruise!”

You’ll experience Kenai Fjords National Park from aboard a custom vessel with walk-around viewing decks for up-close glacier experiences. Prefer to sit inside? Comfortable seating and large picture windows will make sure you don’t miss a thing!

Your ships’ captain and crew will provide narration throughout your adventure on Resurrection Bay. They’ll fill you in on the area’s history – both natural and human. They’ll also make sure you see points of interest, such as wildlife or a calving glacier.

Tidewater glaciers are massive and, when they calve, it can be an awesome experience. You’ll hear what sounds like a gunshot then watch as a chunk of ice separates from the glacier, tumbling hundreds of feet to splash in the ocean below. The birth of an iceberg!

While there’s no guarantee you’ll see a calving glacier, you WILL see wildlife. There is an incredible abundance of marine and land-based wildlife here, including more than 80 different species of birds. Your wildlife-spotting opportunities multiply as your glacier cruise takes you deeper into the heart of the park.

You’ll likely glide past sea otters, harbor seals, and Steller sea lions basking on rocky shores. Puffins, too, nestled on shore or soaring above, along with bald eagles, and a variety of seabirds. Depending on the season, you may also catch the awesome sight of whales frolicking at sea. Dall’s porpoises, humpback whales, orca, gray whales, fin whales, and minke whales have all been sighted in these waters.

Lunch is included, allowing you to spend more time soaking up the natural wonders of Kenai Fjords National Park.
