When it comes to visiting Alaska, planning an Alaska vacation can be overwhelming. You could spend all your time driving, planning, hiking, or fishing, and miss out on the best parts of Alaska. That is where a small-group guided Alaska land tour comes in!
At Alaska Adventure Unlimited (AAU), we specialize in small-group guided Alaska land tours with 14 passengers max. We combine local expertise, comfortable accommodations, scenic transportation, and included daily activities. Our itineraries are designed by Alaskans who know and love this state, helping you experience Alaska beyond the typical tourist stops.
Why Choose Alaska Adventure Unlimited?
As a small-group land tour company we have over 30 years of experience guiding and planning Alaskan land tours. We plan our tours around experiences we would want our friends and family to enjoy. Our thoughtfully crafted itineraries, local guides, and long-time local connections help you to experience a more authentic side of Alaska.
Travel with Local Alaskan Guides
All of our guides are local Alaskans who live and work in Alaska year round. You will benefit from their collective decades of living and adventuring in Alaska. From scenic hiking trails and wildlife-viewing opportunities to favorite local restaurants and hidden gems, our guides share firsthand knowledge you won’t find in a standard travel itinerary.
Your local Alaskan guide handles transportation between activities, accommodations, and dining locations, allowing you to relax and enjoy the scenery rather than navigate unfamiliar roads. Our smaller vehicles also make it easier to explore certain roads and destinations that may be less accessible to larger motor coaches.
Most of our tours also include the scenic Alaska Railroad from Anchorage to Seward. This spectacular train ride from Anchorage to Seward includes the glass-domed GoldStar rail and the knowledge of on-board Rail Guides during that segment of the tour.
What Type of Alaska Tours Do We Offer?
We offer several tour departure styles to help travelers find an Alaska tour that fits their group and travel preferences.
- Adult departures – ages 16 and up: These are wonderful for couples, solo travelers, and friend groups.
- All-Ages departures – ages 0+: great for multi-generational families. We recommend ages 6+ to really enjoy all the activities that are available.
- Private departures: Groups are for 7 or more passengers – these are great for family reunions, groups of friends, or corporate retreats!
What is a “Soft-Adventure” Alaska Tour?
Our tours are designed for folks who enjoy exploring the outdoors while appreciating comfortable transportation and accommodations. We describe our itineraries as soft adventure because some activities involve walking at least a mile without assistance over uneven terrain. Activity levels vary by excursion, so we encourage guests to review their preferred itinerary and discuss any mobility considerations with our travel planners before booking.
Where Will You Stay on Your Alaska Land Tour?
On all of our tours, accommodations are included. We stay at a variety of Alaskan boutique-style accommodations. Our lodging is chosen based on long-standing partnerships, availability & group tour dynamic. We also review accommodations annually for guest satisfaction.
- Anchorage Hotels: similar to Holiday Inn Express & Embassy Suites
- Wasilla Hotels: AAU chalets, Lake Lucille Inn or Pioneer Ridge Bed & Breakfast
- Denali Hotels: Denali Lakeview Inn, Denali Bluffs/Grande Denali, or McKinley Creekside
- Seward Hotels: Gateway or Windsong Lodge
Alaska Vacation Packages with Included Activities
One thing that really sets AAU apart from the rest is that we INCLUDE activities daily. Many of our itineraries feature daily adventures, so you can experience more of Alaska without having to plan and book every excursion yourself. Best of all, you could do our tour with no upgrades and still have a terrific time!
Depending on the tour you choose, included activities may feature:
- Whitewater rafting or a scenic river float
- Flightseeing over the Alaska Range
- Denali National Park excursions
- Knik Glacier jet boat adventures
- Glacier hiking
